Hot Flashes—How Many Years Do They Last?

From the onset of a girl’s first menstrual period, it is common for her to begin comparing notes with her female peers. These discussions often center around what is “normal” in terms of cramps, flow, headaches, irritability, etc. Some girls claim to have little to no pain or discomfort each month, while others suffer from much worse symptoms and are sometimes even unable to perform regular daily activities during PMS or while they’re bleeding.
