Devoted coffee drinkers are more likely to focus in on reports that note coffee’s positive effect on Alzheimer’s risk, for instance, rather than studies that say the drink can cause insomnia and anxiety. But whatever your stance on coffee, the actual health risks and benefits remain the same. Coffee, especially when consumed in excess, can have some negative effects. But it can also provide some health benefits, which may be more compelling than you realize.
